This page contains links to advanced VUSCG skills training available to all VUSCG pilots.  To begin one of these programs, you must have the recommendation of your District Commander and the Training Director.

 

Fleet Pilot Training Courses

Course

Description

CG1 / CG2 Certification

Request permission from your DCO to relocate to Andrews AFB for CG1 / CG2 certification.

Fly CG1 online with live ATC.  You must do at least three ILS approaches with a live controller.  Submit a PIREP with the airport (fly FROM a VUSCG AirSta to the airport for the approaches) you used for the approaches.  Request the certification in your PIREP and HQ will file the award for you.

SAR Fundamentals School

Using material adapted from the USCG National SAR School, the basics of Search and Rescue planning and execution are covered.

Interceptor School

Basic material taken from the FAA AIM on the rules of engagement for intercepting civilian aircraft with military aircraft.  VUSCG modifications included.

Oceanic Flight Training

This course is for pilots operating in airspace controlled by Oceanic Center.  It contains information on flight preparation and communications.

Upon completion of the above coursework, contact the Training Director, vVADM Lance Royal, to request the certification test.
